CECA STUDENT OF THE MONTH FOR MARCH 2017
My name is Anaiya Vaifanua, and I’m a Junior in the CECA Program. I play volleyball and I’m part of Inderkum’s Polynesian Club. I joined CECA in the middle of my Sophomore year. It was a challenge at first to adjust to the different customs within the Program, but I’ve managed to get use to things with help from students and teachers.
Before I joined CECA, I heard about how CECA students take ARC classes and potentially have an upper hand in going into college. This made me determined to join CECA and take classes myself because I did not want to waste an opportunity in front of me. I was skeptical about joining at first because I knew that I would have to meet an entirely different group of students because my schedule would be completely changed. Not too long after becoming a part of CECA, I met the coolest people who have helped me adjust.
I’ve learned many things from being in CECA that will apply to my future. Having the privilege to attend college classes, I’ve learned to manage my time better, mature as a student, and much more. Attending ARC classes has been a very positive influence on my thoughts about college.
After CECA I plan on attending a 4-year college. I’m interested in advancing into the medical field. It will be hard reaching this goal, but I’m not too worried because I can do it.
